This group is dedicated to preserving White Marsh and all of the City of Hampton Wetlands and the Wildlife that inhabit them. White Marsh, Grandview Beach, Grandview Nature Preserve and Factory Point are enjoyed by hundreds of families each weekend and Long Creek is our local Watermen's livelihood. Wetlands are nature's sponges during storms, they provide flood protection to many areas throughout the City of Hampton. This natural buffer and treasure must be protected! Any further development in sensitive wetland areas will leave a lasting impression on our environment.
**A Note to Our Island Neighbors with Golf Carts: The privilege of being a Golf Cart Community was granted by our City after a lot of work and campaigning by your friends and neighbors. We agreed to abide by the rules they set forth. The City can and will revoke the Cart privilege for the ENTIRE ISLAND if they find abuse. They are monitoring the Violations.
The City's Rules Are:
1. The driver must be a licensed driver and carry it on them at all times. Underage driving is not permitted - when found, the police follow your driver/child home and proceed to give you, the parent, a ticket - it has happened.
2. You must abide by all vehicular laws: stopping at stop signs, yielding to traffic, no alcohol, no speeding or reckless driving and no excessive number of passengers on the cart. You can, and many have been cited for a moving violation as if you were driving a vehicle.
3. The Cart must have and use headlights and rear lights after dark. A reflective triangle in lieu of rear lights is an acceptable alternative.
Please, NO DRIVING ON OR BEHIND THE DUNES ON THE BEACH!!!
Beach Grass and Sand Dune Destruction is the #1 Cause of Beach Erosion!
One last thing, PARENTS, PLEASE INFORM AND MONITOR YOUR "LICENSE CARRYING" YOUNG ADULTS
***Remember this is a Privilege, Not a Right***
